Fellow Pinners. . . It's Time To Unite!

Hi, my name is Stacy and I am super excited to be one of the authors here at Endless Pinabilities!  I've been teaching kindergarten for over 15 years in sunny, central Florida.   I found Pinterest last summer through ProTeach and I haven't looked back since.  The following pin is a perfect example of my own journey with Pinterest.

Source: unavailable

Right now I have 75 boards and over 2,700 pins (WHOA. . .that does sound like a lot!!!)  I knew I was a pin-a-holic when I told my friend that I started a board dedicated to potatoes and she just stared at me with a blank stare.  Oh well, when she needs a recipe for Roasted Dutch Potatoes, she'll be checking out my boards.

If you would like to find me feel free to hop on over to my blog Simpson's Superstars.
You can also follow me on Pinterest by clicking here.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Tanja for coming up with such an awesome idea for a blog.  I'm looking forward to sharing my obsession with fellow pinners.

Pinterest...The "Write" Way!

Happy Weekend All!
I am so excited to be here on Endless Pinabilities!! Let me introduce myself! Some of you know may know me already! My name is Lisa from Learning Is Something To Treasure.
I have been teaching 1st grade for 7 years in Florida. I absolutely love teaching 6 & 7 year olds & being a part of the amazing strides that they make throughout the year! I am so excited to be one of the authors for this blog, because I have SO many pins to share with you! Some may say I am a pinaholic...and I would have to completely agree with them. Pinterest has been an inspiration to my teaching career, as I know it has to many of you. As I looked through my boards to figure out what to talk about, one thing stuck out for me...Writing!
I don't know about you, but writing is such an essential, yet difficult subject to teach. I am always looking for motivating and captivating ways to teach it in my classroom. It is so integral that we incorporate writing into our classroom on a daily basis as early as possible. I wanted to share some writing inspired pins that I have used or look forward to using with my students next year!
First, I think it is essential for a rubric to be established (at any age) of what our students' writing is expected to look like. It's important to set a high standard for writing. This is one of my favorite pins which provides students with a visual scale to rate their writing:
Also, students should have easy access to a portable word wall with sight words and sentence conventions to view while they are working on daily writing. I think this is a perfect example!
One thing that I notice with my students and probably at any age is the occasional "writer's block". Therefore, I feel it is important to have ideas that my students can refer to at any time to spark some inspiration. This is a great board that I found on pinterest to do just that:
With that being said, anchor charts have been a big help in my classroom with organizing our thoughts on writing. Here are a few of my favorite writing anchor chart pins:

I also love using thinking maps with my students. It's a very effective way to integrate multiple subjects together. I feel that it helps students understand a concept even more by using thinking maps to organize their thoughts and knowledge on a subject and then write about it.

During and after the writing process, students should be aware of following the rules of writing. This chart is a great visual reminder for students to check over their writing conventions.
This is also another wonderful example of using your "writer's eyes" to check over your writing. This can be adapted to expectations at any grade level!
Well there you have it! I hope you found some of these writing related pins helpful to you and your classroom. Thanks to Tanja for setting up this fantastic resource for all of us to share!
Enjoy your weekend!

Classroom Decor

Hi everyone! My name is Anita Bremer, and I have been teaching Kindergarten in Ontario, Canada for the past 9 years. I am excited to be an author here at Endless Pinabilities!

I love getting classroom ideas from Pinterest, and one of my favourite topics has been classroom decor. I am loving the subway art especially- some would look great on the classroom wall, while others would be perfect framed on the teacher's desk. And the best part is, most are downloadable & free!

For example, here is the sign I posted on my classroom door:

JUST KIDDING!
It is actually tucked away in my planner.

Here are some classroom signs that I've been loving on Pinterest:

Play matters in Kindergarten!

Such a cute alphabet:

Classroom Rules:

Community building in the classroom:

I have this one hanging on my classroom door.
No, really, it's there!

I got the idea of "wordling" the names of my students from Pinterest & hung that on my door too.

Hope you find a little inspiration here that will give you ideas for decorating your classroom this fall.

I need to go out & get some frames for these.

And some printer ink too.

You can find my Pinterest board here.

Help me, I'm obsessed!

Good Morning fellow Pinterest addicts!

Hi, I'm Mrs. D from Reading with Miss D. Let me tell you a few things about myself.

-I am a certified teacher in two provinces and one state.
-I went to the University of Maine at Presque Isle, finishing my student teaching in December 2004.
-After cross border red tape, I was certified to teach at home in Nova Scotia, where I was a substitute teacher for just over three school years until June 2008 in Halifax/Dartmouth.
-I was getting really REALLY frustrated with the lack of teaching jobs locally, so I started to look across Canada. That summer I landed a job on a native reserve in Northern Manitoba, where I taught for two years, the first in grade 3, the second in grade 2.
-At the end of those two years, I came home when my contract was not renewed and tried to find an impossible to find job. Midway through the year I was offered a maternity leave for the remainder of the school year in a local private school, teaching grade 1.
-Just before the new school year started I was contacted by my principal and informed there was no position for me this year. I was devastated, but I took a job working in retail.
-I got married in August 2011!
-I had our first daughter in February, and thanks to Canada's maternity rules, I am staying home with her until  February roles around again, at which point I will return to my retail job, but will begin searching for another impossible to find job for the next school year.
-While on leave the last four months I have become a Pinterest addict!

Now on with my pins!
It's really hard to pinpoint my favourite pins, especially when I have this many, and growing everyday.

My current obsession for school is my Imaginary future classroom theme. My first year my theme was Smileys, as Smiley was my maiden name. My students literally stepped into Miss Smiley's classroom. My second year my theme was cookies, because I called my kids Smart Cookies. Neither year did I go as far with the theme as I wanted to. Last year the class I inherited was theme-less. Very sad. I plan to do better next time. Click on the picture to go directly to my pinboard. Can you tell from the picture what I dream of? Superheroes!

Even though it's 8 months away, I've been thinking about what my daughters first birthday theme will be. My husband loves all things country, so I decided, and he agrees, that a pink cowgirl theme would be perfect.

To settle my students, I used to call out "Magic Hands", and they'd sit down with their hands clasped. I love this idea from Pinterest instead, which is really an extension of the it.

Also, I love the idea of when students are raising their hands they can silently from a distance let me know what they want. I've seen several versions of posters for this idea, but I love how this teacher used cut out hands and folded the fingers to make them almost 3D.

That's it for today, I could go on for hours about my Pinterest addiction. I'll have to start looking for a self help group soon. what, that's what you're for right?

Been There, Pinned That!

Source: images.search.yahoo.com via Michelle on Pinterest

Hey guys!

My name's Michelle from Making It As A Middle School Teacher!  I am soooo excited to be part of this new blog!  I make many of the things I pin, so I'm all about this!

Yes, I've really been there and pinned that...a lot!!!

I've been pinning since the beginning.  I was fortunate enough to be hooked up with a well-established blogger who got an invite pretty quickly and was able to invite others as well.  I was immediately hooked like nothing before.

I pin daily...multiple times a day, typically!

Here are my numbers as of right now {which I'm a little apprehensive to share because you may think that I REALLY have a pinning problem...lol}.

213...apparently the limit, because if I try to add a new board, Pinterest tells me I've reached my limit and I have to delete something.  Oh...their all alphabetized as well!

There is ab.so.lute.ly NO way I could choose just a few pins to share with you as an introduction!  So I thought I'd share the link to my board called My Addiction, where I just pin things about being addicted to Pinterest...lol!  See, told ya I'm serious about this! o_O

Most of my boards are teaching and blogging related, but I also have boards for my other hobbies, cooking, pets, holidays, etc...the usual stuff.

I plan to share a few things I've already made with you very soon and can't wait to see all of your fabulous ideas, too!!!

I'd LOVE for you to stop by and follow me.  You can click here.

Enjoy :)

Making It {and smiling},

Pinaholics Anonymous

I may be addicted to pins, but I'm certainly not going to join a 12 step program to stop.

Hi! I'm Amber from Adventures of a Third Grade Teacher.
I teach third grade in North Carolina.  I just finished up my fourth year of teaching. I have a cat named Alice and a boyfriend named Mark.  (Don't tell Mark that Alice was listed before him...). I adore polka dots, bows, monograms and anything girly.

Pinterest was life changing.

No lie.

I starting pinning last September.  I became obsessed.  I was so scared I was going to miss a life-shattering pin.

Well, pinning introduced me to the world of blogging.  Man, has that changed my life!

Pinterest had made me a better teacher, cook, and crafter! I think most of us can agree!

So, when I saw this nifty new blog, I knew I had to jump on board!!   I mean, if I can't beat my Pinterest addiction, I may as well relish in it with others..

Well, I have about 1800 Pins, so it's awfully hard to choose a few of my favorites, but I'll certainly try!

Did I mention my love for polka dots and anything monogrammed??

I love the smell of coffee when I'm putting on makeup!

So cute!

Easy Addition to have some color in the classroom!

I could go on and on and on and on!

Feel free to check out my Pinboards and I'm looking forward to sharing my favorite pins and seeing some of your favorites! :)
